Preceded in death by son, Gary; parents, Ovedia Sophia and Julius Johnson.

Survived by his wife of 63 years, Sybil; children, Gregg (Linda) Johnson and Kerry (Kim) Hochstein; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Duane has been a career railroad man who had worked for the Great Northern, Burlington Northern and Amtrak Railways. He entered the Marine Corps in November of 1942 and service in "The Old Guard" in the First Marine Division. He was wounded on Peleliau Island in 1944 and awarded the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged in August of 1945.

Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
